Is Gelagen Legit? A Label-First Look Before You Buy

Is Gelagen Legit? A Label-First Look Before You Buy

"Is it legit?" really covers three questions: Is the product real and clearly labelled? Are the claims reasonable? Can I get my money back? Here's what we found for each.

1. The label: clear and complete

Gelagen's published Supplement Facts panel lists 13 nutrients, each with an amount per two-gummy serving. These include 5,000 mcg of biotin, 6 mcg of B12, 442 mcg DFE of folate, 2 mg of B6, 5.2 mg of pantothenic acid, and vitamins A, C, D and E, zinc, iodine, choline and inositol. There's no proprietary blend. For a beauty gummy, that level of openness is a good sign.

2. The name vs. the formula

The one thing that trips buyers up is the name. "Gelagen" sounds like collagen, but collagen is not on the published panel. The formula is a vitamin-and-mineral gummy. That doesn't make it illegitimate, but you should buy it for what it is, not for what the name suggests. (It does include vitamin C, which your body needs to make its own collagen.)

3. Manufacturing claims

The seller states Gelagen is made in the United States in an FDA-registered facility. Registration is a legal requirement for facilities that make food and supplements. It is not FDA approval, and no dietary supplement is FDA-approved. Treat claims of "FDA approval" anywhere as a red flag.

4. Are the claims reasonable?

Claims to "support healthy-looking skin, hair and nails" are fair structure/function language for these nutrients. Claims that a supplement will reverse hair loss or erase wrinkles are not. Research supports biotin mainly for people who are deficient, so set your expectations to match.

5. The money-back guarantee

The official store offers a 60-day money-back guarantee from the purchase date, and asks that you use the product for at least 30 days first. That's a reasonable safety net, but only if you buy directly.

Our take: Gelagen looks like a legitimate, clearly labelled beauty gummy. Buy it from the official site, know that it has no collagen, tell your doctor about the biotin, and judge it at 60–90 days.
